Best practices before, during and after your trip

The daily process

Venturing into the backcountry in the winter is a wonderful and liberating experience. However, there are several things to consider before heading out to make the most of the day and to ensure that you stay safe. Professionals and experienced outdoor enthusiasts follow a daily process before setting off on a trip. This allows them to make consistent and well-considered decisions despite the lack of feedback in the mountain environment. Another benefit is that you will have a freer mind to enjoy the moment. Here is an overview of the daily process, which you will see in depth in the AST1 course.
